What does PanelKind change?+
PanelKind customises the WordPress administration area: navigation, dashboards, guidance and role-aware access. Your clients still work with WordPress posts, pages and media. It does not change your public website’s design.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?+
Free gives a small site one active custom client View, three widgets, one private information page and one PanelKind custom role. All seven widget types, basic branding, role-based access rules and the draft, preview and publish workflow are included. Pro adds more capacity, individual targeting, advanced styling, white-label controls, templates and portable configuration transfers. Every paid plan includes the same Pro features; only the licensed site allowance differs.
Can I use it on WordPress multisite?+
The current release supports individual WordPress installations and does not support multisite activation. The 5-site and 1,000-site Pro options are for separate WordPress installations.
Does hiding a menu also remove access?+
A View controls presentation, while access rules control supported resources. Native WordPress capabilities remain the permission ceiling. Review both the workspace and the underlying permissions, then test the client’s real account.
Can I review changes before clients see them?+
Yes. Both editions include drafts, role/user preview, access inspection, publication review and revision history, with no monthly save or publish quota. Native role changes take effect immediately. Restoring an earlier revision follows your current plan’s limits. Test the client’s real account before handover, including any third-party workflows.
Do I need an account or licence for Free?+
No. Download the plugin ZIP directly from this website and use Free without an account or licence. PanelKind imposes no plan limits on WordPress users, frontend pages, posts, products or traffic.
How do plugin updates work?+
Until the WordPress directory release, Free users download a newer ZIP and install it through WordPress’s plugin replacement flow. Pro updates use Freemius while the licence has update entitlement; automatic installation follows the site owner’s WordPress preference. Delivery also needs Freemius connectivity/consent and a published downloadable release. Free updates through the WordPress directory are planned, not available yet.
What happens if my licence expires?+
Published workspaces, content and access restrictions are preserved. Freemius licences configured for continued feature use retain Pro features after expiry but lose updates. An expired blocking licence, cancelled licence or deactivated/missing licence falls back to Free. Temporary connectivity problems use the SDK’s cached state until it synchronises successfully. When a site falls back to Free, adding paid capacity or changing Pro-only settings requires Pro again; paid drafts are checked before publication.
Can I keep my styling if I move back to Free?+
Existing published advanced styling stays visible. In editable custom Views you can retain it while changing content and basic styling, or reset Pro styling to defaults. That reset changes advanced fields in the draft and takes effect on publication; it preserves the logo, accent, layout, cleanup, icons and theme switch. Once the reset is published, restoring removed paid styling requires Pro. Full administration remains read-only on Free.
Can I back up or move my configuration?+
Both editions can download and restore a signed PanelKind configuration backup for the same site. This is not a full WordPress backup. Pro adds portable export/import for transferring configuration between sites, including importing older portable exports. Restores and imports follow the current plan’s limits; roles and site-specific references need checking before publication.
How do I purchase Pro?+
Choose a Pro licence for 1, 5 or 1,000 separate WordPress installations to open Freemius’s hosted checkout with your site allowance, GBP currency and annual billing selected. Prices shown here exclude VAT; applicable tax is calculated at checkout. Review the final total, renewal and refund terms in Freemius before purchasing.
